India has officially started delivering the WhAP 8×8 to the Royal Moroccan Army, marking a significant advancement in industrial cooperation between the two countries.
The first batch of wheeled armored vehicles was supplied by Tata Advanced Systems under an agreement that includes local production and adaptation to the operational needs of the Moroccan Armed Forces.
The vehicles are being manufactured at a new industrial unit located in the Berrechid region, near Casablanca. With an area of 20,000 square meters, the factory began operations in 2025, three months ahead of schedule, and is already considered the largest defense production complex in the country. The first deliveries took place in October 2025, consolidating the local industrial capacity.
Developed in partnership with the Indian defense sector, the WhAP 8×8 is a modular platform designed for multiple missions, such as troop transport, command, and support. In addition to strengthening Morocco’s operational capabilities, the program aims to boost the national defense industry, create jobs, and strengthen the supply chain, in line with the country’s strategy to increase domestic military production.
